Designated as a part of Greater Paris in February 2012, the riverside eco-district will contribute to the structuring of the metropolis, based upon a central conurbation and well-connected satellites, each of which offers a distinctive lifestyle. The Mantois district, a key link in the Seine Valley, shortly to be linked to La Défense and Paris-Saint-Lazare by the RER EOLE, is a major sector for development, and delivers a residential appeal based upon a combination of town and nature. Located on an old backfilled quarrying facility, the riverside eco-district forms part of a site which substantially borders the Seine. Now a substantially undeveloped part of the conurbation, located between the urban fringes of Mantes-la-Jolie and Rosny-sur-Seine, it is the intention of the EPAMSA that the eco-district should assume a dual objective: the onsite combination of an urban development project and a landscaping project, creating a lively and multi-functional district with links to the river and its basins, enjoying the benefits of an original living environment and a unique series of open spaces. Based upon a dedicated on-site public transport system (TZen), the urban development project will generate an appeal which is based upon the river, including sports and leisure activities, a marina, shops, etc.. The landscaping project will be based upon the assets of the site: woodlands, river basins, the Seine, contoured features and open landscapes. The aim of this project is the requalification of natural spaces in the interests of enhancement and general access, delivering a high-quality environment which is rich in biodiversity.
